Our research is vital to the provision of our services. It is our research that created the CandYP Project, and it underpins much of the work we do.

The CandYP Project was designed as the result of the doctoral research of Dr Jean Kidner, previous manager and children's worker with Haven. Jean Kidner's research, 'The Tale That Can Be Told' is accessible through Sheffield Hallam University PhD archives.

We have recently been able to support the research of students from the University of Sheffield's School of Education. We took a placement student from the BA Education, Culture and Childhood who assisted with play work and carried out a small research project with children in our refuges. Over summer 2015, one of our members of staff, Rosie Huzzard, carried out her MA Education and Psychology dissertation research with us, in the field of Play as an empowering methodology to improve children's power and control in research and in their own lives. If you would like to find out more about this research, please email Rosie at: r.huzzard@hhouse.org.uk.
